Sterling Silver Antique Brownie/Elf Bar Pin with C Clasp Closure     

This is an adorable brownie bar pin in sterling silver with a brass pin stem and c catch closure. A brownie is a  legendary Scottish elf who does housework and other kind deeds in secret and usually overnight in return for small gifts or food. This little fellow is 1 1/8" high and the bar he is attached to is 1 3/4" long x 1/16" high. The partial imprint on the reverse is STERLING SILVER. Manufacture of this pin was probably early 20th century possibly in Scotland or North England from which the folklore originated. The condition is excellent.
