Vintage Inlaid Bakelite Bird Letter Opener     

A vintage black bakelite and brass exotic bird letter opener with inlaid bakelite details in red, blue, green and white. The detail on the brass wings include inlaid bakelite as well as etched edges. Some more detailing is done with brass nails embedded in the black bakelite. The opener shaft appears to be steel. The exotic bird resembles a black egret and has a red inlaid bakelite crown. The eyes are blue bakelite and are centered with a brass nail accent. Please note that the left eye has a bit of deterioration. This vintage letter opener would make a unique gift for anyone who works at a desk. The dimensions are 8 1/4" x 7/8" and is in excellent condition excluding the left eye. See close up photo below.
